Ingredients#
- 2 eggs
- 130 g sugar
- 250 ml milk
- 120 g butter
- 250 g flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Preparation#
- First, preheat the waffle iron.
- Place eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar, and butter in a bowl and beat until creamy with a hand mixer or whisk.
- Then add milk, flour, baking powder, and salt and mix again.
- Lightly oil the waffle iron and pour 2 – 3 tbsp batter into the center for each waffle. Remove the waffles when they are golden brown.
- You can serve and enjoy them warm right away.
- For later, place the waffles individually on a wire rack. If you stack them, they quickly become soggy.

Classically, waffles are eaten with powdered sugar, but you can enjoy them with many other treats. Try them with hot cherries and vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. They are also delicious with fresh fruit such as strawberries, raspberries, or bananas. You can top the waffles however you like. If you add fruit or cocoa powder to the batter, they taste incredibly good too. Would you rather have savory waffles? No problem — simply leave out the sugar and vanilla sugar.
