Ingredients:#
- 1 glass (250 ml) lukewarm milk
- 1/2 glass lukewarm water
- 1 egg white
- 1/4 glass oil (olive oil works best)
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 packet dry yeast or half a packet fresh yeast
- 4–4.5 glasses flour (do not add all at once)
For brushing:#
Egg yolk
1 tbsp milk
Preparation:#
Knead a dough from the ingredients listed above (it should not stick to your hands). Let the dough rise covered for about one hour.
Place the dough on a floured work surface and divide into 7 equal pieces. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place one dough ball in the center and arrange the others around it with about 1 cm spacing (see photo).
Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rise for another 20–30 minutes. Brush with the egg yolk-milk mixture and sprinkle with sesame, black cumin, poppy seeds, or grains as desired. Preheat the oven to 190°C with top and bottom heat and place an ovenproof bowl filled with water in the oven. Bake for about 30–35 minutes.
Happy baking and enjoy!
