Ingredients:#
- 1 kg asparagus
- 1 tsp oil
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp sugar
Preparation:#
In a large pot, mix water, sugar, salt, and oil and bring to a boil.
While the water is boiling, remove the woody ends of the asparagus and peel the rest. You can save the peels and ends to use later for asparagus soup.

When the water boils, add the asparagus and let it come to a brief boil again. After the short boil, turn the heat down a little, because asparagus should never boil vigorously. This could damage the delicate tips.
The asparagus should simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes. After a test with a fork, when they have become tender, you can remove them and serve.
Homemade hollandaise sauce goes best with asparagus.

Tip:#
Asparagus pots are great for gentle preparation. The asparagus is cooked standing upright. With a steamer, you can cook asparagus just as gently — and add a special aroma on top.
