Vegan Mashed Potatoes



If you don’t eat animal products or are lactose intolerant, you don’t have to miss out on mashed potatoes. The classic version works without butter or cow’s milk. This quick mashed potato recipe is ready in a flash with just a few ingredients.

If you avoid animal products but still love mashed potatoes, you’ll adore this vegan version. We’ll show you how to make creamy, delicious vegan mashed potatoes quickly and easily.

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes (floury variety)
  • Plant-based milk of your choice
  • Salt
  • Nutmeg
  • Cashew cream (optional)

Method:

  • First, peel the potatoes, quarter them, and place in a pot. Fill the pot with water to about 4 cm — the potatoes will steam-cook. Cover with a lid and bring to a boil.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat and cook until the potatoes are tender.
  • When soft, mash with a hand mixer or potato masher. Leave the cooking water in the pot — this keeps the mash nice and creamy.
  • Gradually add the milk while stirring or mashing until you reach your desired consistency.
  • Cashew cream can be used instead of milk.
  • Season with salt and nutmeg, taste, and serve.

Voilà — your vegan mashed potatoes are ready!
