Stay Fit with Power Napping!

A short sleep gives us energy and lifts our mood. A power nap lasts only a few minutes. You don’t fully fall asleep — you just doze off briefly. The right technique is also why you feel fit and alert afterwards. Around midday, motivation and energy usually dip, which can lead to poor concentration. A short nap helps prevent that. Between 12 and 2 p.m. is the best time for a power nap.

The optimal duration for power napping is about 10 minutes. However, make sure the nap doesn’t last longer than 30 minutes. Otherwise your body can enter deep sleep — which causes exactly the opposite of what power napping is meant to do.

How long you nap matters when it comes to boosting performance. So 10 minutes is plenty to feel fit and full of energy again afterwards.

How do you take a power nap?

First, find a quiet, relaxed environment — you can even power nap at the office. What’s important is that you won’t be disturbed for a few minutes. Ideally, you should be able to rest your head somewhere; a pillow works well. To gauge the right nap length, you can use a key ring or a pen. Before you enter deep sleep, your muscles relax — and that causes the key ring or pen to drop to the floor. When that happens, you wake up feeling fit and refreshed. With this tip, you can easily power nap without an alarm and recharge your energy.

Power napping is a wonderfully simple way to get fit quickly and efficiently. Definitely give it a try — you’ll soon notice you have much more energy than without it.
